While Laura’s retirement as the Fair Practices Commissioner for the Ontario Workplace Safety & Insurance Board (WSIB) was a sad day for many, her commitment to the Ombuds role will continue through the funding of Ombuds-related research. In the early days of Laura’s career she was an investigator with the Ombudsman for Ontario. She continued in roles related to the delivery of administrative justice through her work as a Chair and Vice-Chair of various administrative tribunals in British Columbia and Ontario and ultimately capped off her career by establishing the first Ombuds Office for the WSIB for Ontario. Laura has also served as a volunteer member of the FCO Board and as Vice-President of the Board. The research that will be funded through this award will continue in the tradition of ensuring complainants and respondents are treated fairly in the pursuit of accessible administrative justice.
Unfortunately, FCO is not able to provide you with a tax-deductible receipt for your contribution as we do not have a charitable registration number. However, we will recognize you as a donor (if you wish that we do so) and will make every effort to use the funds you donate to fund research that will benefit those who use Ombuds services and those who serve in Ombuds roles.
There are two ways to make your contribution:
- Please send your cheque (payable to Forum of Canadian Ombudsman) to: 275 Bay Street, Ottawa ON K1R 5Z5
