  • Lifetime Contribution – to recognize the life-long dedication, exceptional work, and significant contribution an individual has made in supporting or advocating for Veterans and their families.

If you would like to nominate an individual or group, I encourage you to complete the nomination form, available on our website at www.ombudsman-veterans.gc.ca under the Ombudsman Commendation section. For a nomination to be deemed complete, a brief summary describing the exceptional work and significant contribution of the nominee and two letters of support from individuals other than the nominator must be included. Additional information on the criteria and nomination process is available at http://www.ombudsman-veterans.gc.ca/eng/about-us/ombudsman/commendation.

Once the call for nominations has closed, the Veterans Ombudsman’s Advisory Council will review all nominations and provide me with their recommendations. Nominations can be sent electronically to communication@ombudsman-veterans.gc.ca or by mail to:

Lt.-Gen the Honourable Roméo Dallaire is well-known for his tireless work on behalf of Veterans, serving members and their families. I had the honour of recognizing him as a 2015 Veterans Ombudsman Commendation recipient. Here is what he had to say about how it felt to receive the award. http://www.ombudsman-veterans.gc.ca/eng/video/dallaire-1
