Would you like to recognize someone for their outstanding contribution to the well-being of Veterans and their families? The Veterans Ombudsman’s Commendation is awarded to individuals, groups, businesses or associations that meet one of the following criteria:
- National organization or group – to recognize the exceptional work and significant contribution of an organization or group with a national scope that resulted in a long-lasting and positive impact on the well-being of Veterans and their families;
- Local organization or group – to recognize the exceptional work and significant contribution of an organization or group that resulted in a long-lasting and positive impact, at the local or regional level, on the well-being of Veterans and their families;
- Individual – to recognize the exceptional work and significant contribution of an individual that resulted in a long-lasting and positive impact on the well-being of Veterans and their families at the national or local level; and
- Lifetime Contribution – to recognize the life-long dedication, exceptional work, and significant contribution an individual has made in supporting or advocating for Veterans and their families.
If you would like to nominate an individual or group, I encourage you to complete the nomination form, available on our website at www.ombudsman-veterans.gc.ca under the Ombudsman Commendation section. For a nomination to be deemed complete, a brief summary describing the exceptional work and significant contribution of the nominee and two letters of support from individuals other than the nominator must be included. Once the call for nominations has closed, the Veterans Ombudsman’s Advisory Council will review all nominations and provide me with their recommendations. Nominations can be sent electronically to communication@ombudsman-veterans.gc.ca or by mail to:
