New Ombudsman appointed in Haiti

New Ombudsman appointed in Haiti

November 28, 2017

I am pleased to congratulate and welcome Me Renan Hédouville who was appointed as Haiti’s new Protecteur du Citoyen on 27 October 2017 for a period of 7 years.  I have sent a message to Me Hédouville on behalf of CAROA to offer our congratulations and the support of CAROA colleagues as he commences his duties in service to the people of Haiti.  He succeeds Mme Florence Elie who served as Protectrice du Citoyen as a strong advocate for the rights of Haitians and the protection of the poor and vulnerable.

I have also taken this opportunity to write on behalf of CAROA to thank Mme Elie for her tireless work and many years of dedicated service to the people of Haiti. We wish her all the best in her future endeavours and her appointment to the International Committee for October 17.  The Committee’s goals include the promotion of 17 October as the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty; uniting with those who are striving to end poverty and promoting opportunities for people to work together to end extreme poverty as a violation of Human Rights.
