Ombudsman – Office of the Auditor General of Canada (Ottawa)

The Office of the Auditor General of Canada (OAG) has an immediate need to fill an indeterminate position at the ASG-08 level.

As the Ombudsman reporting directly to the Auditor General of Canada, you will perform the following activities:

  • Act as an organizational change agent; lead the development and operation of the Office of the Ombudsman of the OAG. Direct the development of vision and associated strategic and business plans, priorities, and policies.
  • Provide OAG employees of all groups and levels with a safe, impartial, confidential, and independent space where they can feel free to raise various concerns. Provide sound advice and guidance to employees by listening to their concerns and directing them, as necessary, to the most appropriate programs and services available within the OAG for addressing their concerns. Facilitate discussions between conflicting parties through informal interventions. Use judgment and discretion in either addressing issues independently or acting as a mediator to achieve consensus within a group.
  • Provide expertise in strategic planning exercises for the OAG, and provide executive leadership to ensure effective links between strategic and business plans across the organization.
  • Develop and implement strategies to maintain a healthy workplace aligned with the values and ethics of the public service and the OAG Code of Values, Ethics, and Professional Conduct.
